research
I am an experienced qualitative researcher with an interest in women's health, patients' experience of health and illness conditions, interactions with the health service and involvement in health research. My previous research includes explorations of Patient and Public Involvement, and studies of online patient feedback. I am co-Principal Investigator on a new study on improving South Asian women's communication needs about menopause funded by the NIHR School for Primary Care Research. I am also leading work on the evidence behind commercial products that claim to improve menopausal symptoms.
teaching and supervision
I am the founder and Director of the Postgraduate Certificate in Qualitative Health Research Methods and Deputy Director of the DPhil in Evidence Based Health Care. I lead modules on Qualitative Research Methods and Advanced Qualitative Research Methods for the MSc in Evidence Based Health Care. These are also available as standalone short courses.
I am a qualified and passionate educator. I was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from the University of Oxford in 2016. I am happy to mentor staff interested in teaching qualitative methods.
I supervise students on the MSc in Evidence Based Health Care, and DPhil students in Evidence Based Health Care, Primary Care and Psychiatry. I welcome new applications on women's health.
