Health and well-being can be influenced by a variety of factors. Recognising this, social prescribing can involve referral to a local service or group in the voluntary/community sector, which may include attending public spaces or amenities.

Members of the Centre for Evidence Based Medicine are working with colleagues from the Gardens, Libraries and Museums (GLAM) team at the University of Oxford and Kellogg College to explore ways in which these settings can contribute to people’s health and well-being.

The objectives of our work include:

  • To promote knowledge exchange between academics, clinicians, policymakers and members of the public, providing or receiving social prescribing initiatives, and partners at the University of Oxford Gardens, Libraries and Museums (GLAM) division
  • To raise public awareness of the role of these environments for social prescribing
  • To improve the evidence base and support wider implementation

Please contact Stephanie Tierney or Kamal Mahtani if you would like to find out more.

This work is supported by a University of Oxford Knowledge Exchange Seed Fund.
